I hear FFIX is good too but havent tried that yet.įFXII is a game on PC that i also tried and absolutely loved but i managed to lose my save file so I never finished that, definitely planning on picking it back up again sometime tho. then again I did not play any of the other games extensively. might be the best rendition of FF combat and progression I've played. X-2 which is a direct sequel is very different in tone and I didnt finish it but the job system and battle system they went with in it were really well done. Some people like to hate on the voice acting, especially the laughing scene but I think it kinda adds to the story. The story is cool, the characters are likeable (I wasn't a fan of waka but whatever) and the game is really fun overall. The battle system is more traditionally turn-based and is fun and has enough depth, the progression system is amazing (atleast the traditional sphere grid system, you get two options), it gives you tons of options and you can build your characters however you like. The FF game i played afterwards however was FFX and I liked that more then I did XIII. Part of what helped me with the enjoyment of the game were the cinematic cutscenes that told the story, absolutely beautiful stuff. The game opens up after a while and does get better then but I did enjoy the story and OST. Some of the characters weren't all that well written but I still generally liked them (yes even snow and hope). I liked the battle system and also was a fan of the progression system. this game did not have the best overall critical reception but I enjoyed it despite its flaws. My introduction to final fantasy was XIII which is available on PC.
